LOCAL : Bush Threat Suspect Identified

A man who was arrested on suspicion of threatening the life of President Bush was identified today as Carl Schmidt, 44, of Glendale, according to the U.S. Secret Service.

Schmidt was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday at his home after a threatening telephone call to the White House was traced to the residence, Glendale police said.

Schmidt was expected to face a federal felony charge of making threats against a President, Secret Service spokesman Allan Cramer said.
