A federal judge has given Assemblywoman Lucy Killea permission to use money raised for one campaign on another election.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Lawrence K. Karlton will allow Killea, D-San Diego, to use more than $60,000 raised by her Assembly reelection committee on her campaign for the 39th District state Senate seat being vacated by Larry Stirling, her attorney said Thursday.
A special election for the seat will be held Dec. 5.
Meanwhile, the county registrar of voters will send 250,000 post cards to households in the 39th District to list the parties with which Killea and her opponent, Republican Carol Bentley, are affiliated. The information was mistakenly left off sample ballots, the registrar’s office said.
