The Comedy Channel, HBO’s new basic-cable comedy venture, begins its programming Wednesday at 3 p.m. The 24-hour channel will feature short films, classic TV shows, specials and full-length movies. The channel’s weekday hosts are Rachel Sweet, Tommy Sledge, The Higgins Boys & Gruber and Allan Harvey.

In NBC’s hourlong drama “Christmas in America: A Love Story,” entertainer Kenny Rogers plays a globe-trotting photographer who looks back at the various stages of his life--from childhood to fatherhood--through his camera lens. Ashley Crowe and Kate Reid co-star in the upcoming holiday special.

Wayne Rogers, Connie Sellecca and Ana Alicia are shooting the CBS movie “Miracle Landing” in Hawaii. The drama is about an aircraft crew fighting to land their commercial airliner after the top skin of its fuselage is ripped off during a flight.
