Investigation Dropped: The Justice Department has dropped its investigation of the sale of a high technology division of Diasonics Inc. of South San Francisco to Toshiba of Japan. The Diasonics division under examination sells magnetic resonance imaging systems, which produce images of a patient’s body with magnetic fields. The Justice Department found the sale would not reduce competition, even though a high concentration of the market is held by some producers and both Toshiba and Diasonics build the systems.
