500 Evacuated After Propane Fire Sends Flames 100 Feet High
Associated Press
JASPER, Mo. —
A propane fire shot flames at least 100 feet into the air and prompted the evacuation of about 500 people before it was put out Friday morning.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which began Thursday morning and was visible at least 25 miles away.
The fire started as a work crew was performing routine maintenance on a pump, authorities said. Propane escaped and somehow ignited when it reached the surface.
