Kudos to Reynolds: Burt Reynolds, who was a pretty decent halfback at Florida State University long before he ever made a movie, has been named the man of the year by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Reynolds, whose football aspirations were ended by a knee injury, was cited for his success as an actor and his support of his alma mater. Reynolds will pick up his award in February at the 23rd annual dinner at Yale University, where the 1989 Walter Camp All-American college football team also will be honored. . . . Jon Wilkes, news and operations director of FNN Business Radio, has been named vice president and general manager of United Press International’s Radio Network. Wilkes succeeds Michael Freedman, who resigned to become managing editor of Detroit radio station WWJ-AM. . . . Fourteen-time Grammy Award winner Stevie Wonder has rescheduled a concert date in Africa so he can speak at Michigan State University’s Dec. 2 commencement.
