The holiday season will begin at the Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum with an afternoon of “Music for Thanksgiving” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The museum is a six-acre historic site wher nearly 90 years of Southern California history and culture is documented. It features the historic homes of the pioneering Workman and Temple families and what is believed to be the oldest private cemetery in Los Angeles County.

In the 1840s, William Workman and John Rowland led the first overland expedition into Southern California and jointly purchased the 48,790-acre Rancho La Puente. During the 1920s, Walter Temple, the grandson of William Workman, completed La Casa Nueva, a Spanish Colonial Revival mansion noted for its fine craftsmanship.
