PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Corona del Mar Shuts Down Woodbridge, 2-0

Justin Pierce and Chris Smith scored goals Friday to lead Corona del Mar to a 2-0 victory over Woodbridge in the teams’ season opener at Woodbridge.

Pierce scored 22 minutes into the first half and Smith scored with 10 minutes left in the match. Goalie John Connelly made 12 saves for the shutout.

Kennedy 1, Brea-Olinda 1--Marco Hernandez scored the tying goal for host Brea in the second half. Kyong Kim scored in the first half for Kennedy.

Katella 5, Savanna 1--Armando Orizaba scored three goals and Jessie Santivanez and Brian Schenk scored one goal each for visiting Katella, which led, 2-1, at the half.

Valencia 2, Sonora 0--Uli Perez scored two first-half goals for host Valencia.

Ocean View 2, Mater Dei 1--Greg Biggins scored five minutes into the second half for host Ocean View to break a 1-1 tie. Jed Smith scored in the first half for Ocean View.

San Clemente 1, Laguna Beach 0--Stuart Bradshaw scored in the second half for host San Clemente.

Foothill 1, Servite 0--The lone goal came when Foothill’s Mike Pashley’s shot was deflected into the goal by at Servite player in a match played at Servite.

Dana Hills 1, Marina 0--Stacy Juhl scored about 15 minutes into the second half for visiting Dana Hills.

Los Alamitos 1, Laguna Hills 0--Julie Kanasi scored on an assist by Jenny Reyes 20 minutes into the first half for host Los Alamitos in the season opener for both teams.
