NBA ROUNDUP : Robinson Leads Spurs to Victory

David Robinson scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half Wednesday night, including two free throws that broke a tie in the final minute at San Antonio, as the Spurs beat the Golden State Warriors, 121-119.

Robinson’s free throws with 41 seconds left broke a 114-114 tie.

Willie Anderson’s 10-foot jumper with 15 seconds left made it 118-114, and Terry Cummings’ pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining made it 120-114.

Detroit 115, Washington 107--Vinnie Johnson scored 17 of his 24 points in the final quarter as the Pistons beat the Bullets at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Johnson’s average had fallen to 7.4 points a game, his lowest in eight seasons.

Bill Laimbeer had 29 points and 23 rebounds for Detroit.

Boston 113, New York 98--Larry Bird scored 27 points and the Celtics overcame Patrick Ewing’s 32 to tie the Knicks for the Atlantic Division lead in Boston.

Atlanta 118, Orlando 110--Moses Malone scored 29 points, including eight free throws in the fourth quarter, and Dominique Wilkins had 28 points to lead the Hawks over the Magic at Orlando.

Indiana 136, Denver 117--Rik Smits scored 13 of his career-high 32 points in the first quarter as the Pacers beat the Nuggets at Indianapolis. Smits made 12 of 17 shots.

Philadelphia 121, Miami 98--Johnny Dawkins scored a season-high 24 points and Hersey Hawkins matched him at Philadelphia as the 76ers handed the Heat its ninth consecutive loss.
