Wakia Holds On to Win Feature Race by a Head
Wakia led from the start, but had to hold off a determined challenge from Mahaska and a late surge from Viento Bailador to win by a head as the three 2-year-old fillies hit the wire together in the $27,000 allowance feature Friday at Hollywood Park.
Wakia, ridden by Laffit Pincay, ran the six-furlongs in 1:10 2/5 and, as the 3-5 favorite, returned $3.40, 42.40 and $2.20.
Mahaska finished second and paid $2.80 and $2.40. Viento Bailador, another head back, returned $2.40 to show.
