Skyline’s Press Beats Orange Coast, 64-54

Skyline College used a full-court press to rally past Orange Coast, 64-54, in the championship game of the San Jose College basketball tournament Saturday at San Jose College.
The score was tied, 43-43, with nine minutes left but Skyline switched to the press and forced four consecutive turnovers. Skyline scored nine points in a row and OCC never threatened again.
Paul Kos and Alan Schlines of Orange Coast (10-2) were named to the all-tournament team. Kos scored 12 points and Schlines nine. Scott DeStefano had 12 points for OCC, which led at the half, 31-28.
Brian Thomasson, who is the state’s leading scorer with a 26-point-per-game average, had 23 to lead Skyline (10-0).
