Judge Will Unleash ‘Kid Power’ on Yount to Combat Angel Offer

The Angels might have the money to lure free agent Robin Yount, but the Milwaukee Brewers have perhaps a more powerful force on their side as they attempt to re-sign the American League’s Most Valuable Player.

Bringing to mind the spirit of “Miracle on 34th Street,” Charles Schudson, a former vendor at Milwaukee County Stadium who is now a circuit judge, has appealed to children throughout Wisconsin to write letters to Yount.

“I’m planning on unleashing kid power,” Schudson said. “I’m going to ask the children of this state to write letters directly to Robin to let him know that there are things more important than money in life--love, loyalty, devotion and the example that a ballplayer sets for kids.”

An offer by the Angels is reported to be between $13 million and $16 million for five years, including a large signing bonus. But while the Brewers are believed to have offered Yount only $9 million for three years, ‘tis the season.
