Without much size or experience, San Diego State’s women’s basketball team posed little trouble for Stanford, the No. 3-ranked team in the NCAA. The Cardinal (3-0), which set one Pac 10 record and three school records, defeated SDSU, 109-45, Sunday in Palo Alto.

Stanford’s Katy Steding led six players in double-figure scoring with a career-high 27 points. Val Whiting had a career-high 19. The 64-point margin of victory was a Stanford record, topping a 57-point victory over Wisconsin last season.

Stanford’s 11 three-pointers tied a Pacific-10 single-game record. Steding had five of those for another school record.
