Raises for Block, Lynch Win Tentative Approval

Share

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday tentatively approved increasing the annual salary of Sheriff Sherman Block to $157,641 and Assessor John J. Lynch to $130,869, both 20% increases that will take effect in December, 1990.

The pay raises--which are expected to receive final approval next week--were recommended by Chief Administrative Officer Richard B. Dixon, who pointed out that while Block and Lynch have received annual cost-of-living adjustments increasing their salaries by 10% since 1986, they have not been eligible for merit raises given to other department heads. Block’s new salary will make him the highest-paid county employee, pushing him ahead of Dixon, the current salary leader, who earns $138,851 a year.
