USIU Beaten, 93-69, by Montana

Kevin Kearney scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Montana over run-and-gun U.S. International University, 93-69, in a nonconference game Tuesday night.

Montana of the Big Sky Conference is 6-2. USIU, an independent, fell to 2-7 and has lost seven in a row.

The Gulls have scored in triple digits four times this season but couldn’t come close against Montana’s tough defense.

USIU hit just 23% from the field, connecting on only three of its first 26 shots in the first half.

The Grizzlies never trailed and led by as many as 30 points, the last time at 81-51, with 7:48 to go.

At halftime, Montana was up 48-26.

Four other Montana players hit double figures--Daren Engellant and Roger Fasting with 15 each, and Andy Woods and Ossie Young with 10 apiece.

Kevin Bradshaw led the Gulls with 21 points and Demetrius Lafitte had 14.
