SEVEN NEW SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES

Gov. George Deukmejian has announced the appointments of seven judges and lawyers to the Los Angeles Superior Court, including five to fill newly created seats. Salary for the Superior Court judges is $89,851 a year.

Judge Richard Romero, 40, of Long Beach, an East Los Angeles County Municipal Court judge and former assistant U.S. Attorney from 1977-1987, and staff counsel for the National Labor Relations Board, to a newly created seat.

Judge Gary Hahn, 40, of Long Beach, a Long Beach Municipal Court judge and former deputy attorney general from 1974-1988, to a newly created seat.

Judge Gary Daigh, 37, of Torrance, a South Bay Municipal Court judge and former Los Angeles County deputy county counsel from 1980-1988, who also was in private practice in Los Angeles with Anderson, Ablon and Maseda from 1978-1980, replacing Judge William Clay, who retired.

Judge Michael Nash, 41, of Studio City, a Los Angeles County Municipal Court judge and former deputy attorney general from 1974-1985, replacing Judge Paul Turner who was elevated to the 2nd District Court of Appeal.

Charles C. Lee, 43, of La Canada, a partner with the Los Angeles law firm of Tuttle and Taylor since 1987 and a former prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s office from 1983-1987, to fill a newly created seat.

Judge Michael Harwin, 42, of Hidden Hills, a Los Angeles County Municipal Court judge and former court commissioner from 1982-1986, who had his own law practice in Beverly Hills from 1979-1982, to fill a newly created seat.

James Edson, 58, of Long Beach, who has maintained his own law practice in Long Beach since 1967, to fill a newly created seat.
