A Study in Scarlet (Channel 28 Wednesday at 1 p.m.): An obscure, 1933 free adaptation of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle tale with Reginald Owen as Sherlock Holmes and Alan Mowbray as Dr. Watson. (1:30)

The Great Man’s Lady (Channel 5 Thursday at 4 a.m.): A 1942 William Wellman Western most notable for Barbara Stanwyck aging to 100 years; Joel McCrea and Brian Donlevy are the men in her life. (1:30)

Ziegfeld Follies (Channel 9 Friday at 3 a.m.): Lush 1946 MGM musical, composed of separate numbers as imagined by Ziegfeld (William Powell) in heaven. Some memorable sequences--notably the Fred Astaire “Limehouse” sequence--and others that define campy ‘40s Hollywood glamour. (2:00)

Playtime (Bravo Saturday at 5 p.m., again at midnight): This 1968 Jacques Tati film envisions a dehumanizing steel-and-glass modern world yet is singularly affirmative in Tati’s bemused belief that mankind will cope anyway. (2:00)

The Bride Wore Black (A&E; Saturday at 1 a.m.): Francois Truffaut’s beautiful 1968 film from the William Irish (Cornell Woolrich) novel is not an emulation of Hitchcock but an homage to him. Jeanne Moreau is the ravaged, vengeful heroine. (2:30)
