A Pine Valley man was ordered Monday to stand trial for the rape and kidnaping of a stranded motorist whose car broke down in Alpine.

The victim, a 28-year-old Los Angeles woman who spoke little English, testified tearfully during the preliminary hearing of Randall Turpin, 41, whom she identified as her attacker.

Speaking through a Spanish-language interpreter, the woman spoke hesitantly and cried repeatedly as she described her ordeal.

Turpin was ordered to stand trial on 15 of 16 counts, including three charges of forcible rape, five of forcible oral copulation, four of rape with a foreign object, kidnaping, sexual battery and robbery.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Genaro Ramirez estimated that, if Turpin is convicted on all counts and receives consecutive sentences, he could face 150 years in state prison.

San Diego Municipal Judge Joe Littlejohn ordered Turpin to appear Jan. 3 in Superior Court for arraignment and trial setting.
