ABC Plans Replacements: ABC is planning to schedule three new hourlong drama series as mid-season replacements, Robert Iger, president of ABC Entertainment, told reporters on Tuesday. Likely for March, he said, are “Twin Peaks,” director David Lynch’s new murder-mystery serial; “Capital News,” a series about a Washington, D.C., newspaper from MTM Enterprises, and “Equal Justice,” a series about the lives of district attorneys. In addition, the network has ordered eight episodes of a new half-hour series about the early life of Elvis Presley that will begin in February with a two-hour special. No decision has been made regarding where the shows will go--or what they might replace. Also in development for ABC, Iger said, is an cops-and-music series from “Hill Street Blues” producer Stephen Bochco. It’s called “Cop Rock” and will feature original music sung by cast members playing police officers.
