‘My Left Foot’ Gets Double Honors: The New York Film Critics Circle has named “My Left Foot” the best film of 1989 and its star, Daniel Day-Lewis, best actor for his portrayal of a disabled writer and artist. The critics also selected Michelle Pfeiffer as best actress for her role as a nightclub singer in “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” and Paul Mazursky as best director for “Enemies, a Love Story.” In addition, the award for best screenplay went to Dan Yost and Gus Van Sant Jr., for “Drugstore Cowboy.” Claude Chabrol’s “Story of Women” was named best foreign film while Michael Moore’s “Roger and Me” was named best documentary.
