PREP ROUNDUP : El Dorado’s Roth Is First Goalie This Season to Blank Foothill

Mike Roth had nine saves for El Dorado Wednesday to become the first goalie this season to hold Foothill’s soccer team scoreless. The nonleague game ended 0-0.

Lance Anderson had five saves for host Foothill (8-0-1). El Dorado is 3-2-4.

In other nonleague boys’ soccer matches:

La Habra 1, Anaheim 0--Bryan Cierley scored midway through the second half at La Habra. Goalkeeper Jason Keller had seven saves for La Habra (4-4-1). Jose Ortiz had six saves for Anaheim (4-3-1).

Villa Park 2, Westminster 0--Jimmy Obleda scored a penalty kick in the second half and Ryan Smith scored in the first half on an assist from Obleda to lead Villa Park (4-1-2).

University 1, Woodbridge 1--Robert Faoconer scored in the first half for University (3-3-1) and John Szczuka tied the game with a second-half goal for host Woodbridge.

Sunny Hills 1, Newport Harbor 0--Cameron Hull scored on a head shot with 10 minutes remaining at Newport Harbor. Goalkeeper Ryan McCormick had 14 saves for Sunny Hills (6-1-2). Josh Klein had nine saves for the Sailors (8-2).

Santiago 5, Loara 0--Reynoldo Merino scored two goals and Jason Hooper, Chris Parada and Daniel Nachita each scored one for visiting Santiago (7-2-2). Santiago goalie Tony Diaz had six saves.

In nonleague girls’ soccer:

Sonora 1, Katella 0--Lisa Knott assisted on Cathy Collier’s goal with about three minutes remaining at Sonora. Ann Ivory had nine saves in goal and earned her third shutout of the season for Sonora (5-4-1).
