Brush Fire Burns 2 Acres in Newhall

Forty-five firefighters worked two hours to extinguish a two-acre brush fire in Newhall early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The fire was east of the Sierra Highway about a quarter of a mile south of the Newhall refinery. It did not threaten any structures, said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Ollie Lison of Fire Station 73 in Newhall.
Authorities believe the fire may have been set by an elderly man who was seen by California Highway Patrol officers in the area shortly before the blaze began. No arrests have been made, Lison said.
