Frederick F. Houser, California’s lieutenant governor under Earl Warren, a three-term member of the state Assembly during the 1930s and most recently a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, is dead at age 85.
A family member reported today that the veteran Republican lawmaker and jurist died Monday at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach after a heart attack.
Houser began his public career at age 25 when he was elected to the Assembly. He was chosen Warren’s lieutenant governor in 1942 and served one four-year term and then was elected to the Superior Court in 1946, retiring 20 years later.
