United Way Raises Half of Funding Goal
The Harbor-Southeast Region of United Way has raised $4,886,951 of its $8.4 million fund-raising goal, according to Peter Ridder, regional campaign chairman and publisher of the Long Beach Press-Telegram. The region has until mid-March to reach its goal.
The Harbor-Southeast Region encompasses Long Beach, the South Bay and peninsula areas and stretches north to include Whittier. As part of Los Angeles County Greater United Way, it contributes funds and assistance to 335 human-care agencies, 13 “health partners,” such as the American Cancer Society, and 13 chapters of the American Red Cross.
