San Diego
Two men have been taken into custody in connection with the New Year’s Day shooting death of Roberto Ayala in Southeast San Diego.
Maurice Sweet, 21, was arrested Tuesday morning at his residence and Alvin Dean, 27, was found Thursday afternoon after police received a tip from an acquaintance of Sweet’s. Both Dean and Sweet are from the Southeast area and are being held in the county’s central detention facility.
Sweet was arraigned Thursday, and bail was set at $100,000. No bail has been set for Dean, who will be arraigned on Monday.
Police have called the shooting of Ayala, 38, drug-related.
