A 28-year-old San Diego woman was killed Saturday morning when her car struck a call box, overturned and burned.

Sheila Gonzales was driving 65 m.p.h. southbound on Interstate 15, just north of Highway 76, when she told her three passengers that she was turning off her headlights so she could drive faster without being seen by police, according to the county coroner’s report.

Gonzales’ car struck a call box on the right shoulder of the road, causing the car to overturn at 1:25 a.m. Gonzales, who lived in the 7200 block of Gatewood Lane, was thrown through the windshield and killed, the report said.
