Santa Fe Springs : 1 Arrested, Others Sought in Drive-By Fatality
An 18-year-old Whittier man was in custody Wednesday and others were being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy and the wounding of a 19-year-old man in a Santa Fe Springs park.
The shooting, which sheriff’s investigators said may be gang-related, occurred about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Little Lake Park following an argument between a group of teen-agers and a carload of men cruising past. Following the verbal altercation, witnesses and investigators said, the people in the car pulled a gun from beneath the hood of their vehicle and opened fire.
The 14-year-old was shot in the chest, and the other victim was wounded in the leg. Names of the victims were withheld pending notification of relatives.
