A former Roman Catholic priest accused of running a child pornography ring has pleaded not guilty to child molesting and pornography charges, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said.

John Bauer, 54, allegedly led three other men in the production of pornographic videos of young boys in Hollywood and Mexico, police said. Videos confiscated from Bauer’s apartment in Hollywood show him and at least two of the other men committing sex acts with boys, police said.

Bauer entered the not guilty pleas in Los Angeles Municipal Court on three counts of production of child pornography and two counts of conspiracy to molest children, said Mike Botula, spokesman for the district attorney. Bauer was ordered held on $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 19.
