Montreal left-hander John Candelaria filed for salary arbitration and will become a free agent Tuesday if the Expos do not consent to the process.
Candelaria, 36, started the 1989 season with the New York Yankees and was 3-3 with a 5.14 earned-run average in 10 games. After joining the Expos, he was 0-2 in 12 games. He missed most of the season with arm and knee injuries.
