Grand Ole Opry star Jeanne Pruitt says her farm will be disturbed by a planned interstate highway.

“It will come right through the collard green patch,” she said.

Pruitt, best known for her hit song “Satin Sheets,” learned Friday that Interstate 840 will cross her 160-acre farm south of Nashville, isolating 40 to 60 acres of the property.

“I’m sorry that’s where it has to come, but if it’s got to go somewhere, it’s got to go,” she said, adding that she might sell the land for a more secluded location.

The 53-mile stretch of interstate is designed to ease Nashville traffic by offering a southern bypass off Interstate 40. Construction should be completed by the end of the decade.
