Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee Iacocca and other top executives of the No. 3 car maker will hit the road late next month to spread the message that the company is alive and well and ready for the 1990s.

A spokesman for the auto maker confirmed late Wednesday that it will begin a six-city tour Feb. 21 in Washington that will include product displays and news conferences.

Called the “Tour of the 90s,” it will also include receptions for opinion makers in Washington, New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles before ending in May.

“It is an attempt to bring a ray of light into all that gloom and doom that has been printed about Chrysler Corp.,” company spokesman Tom Houston said.

The tour comes as Chrysler’s market share, profits and stock prices are falling.
