Restaurant Offers Reward in Shooting

Jack-In-The-Box restaurants offered a $5,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to the conviction of a man who shot the manager of the chain’s outlet in San Fernando after robbing him in the restaurant’s parking lot.

The robber shot Armando Mendez in the arm after the manager handed over money he was planning to deposit at a bank and pleaded with him not to shoot, said San Fernando Police Detective David Harvey. The robbery occurred Jan. 10 in the 300 block of San Fernando Mission Boulevard, he said.

The gunman, possibly Latino, was described as between 18 and 25 years old, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, Long said. He was wearing a black shirt, white pants and black-and-white athletic shoes, Long said.
