A 16-year-old boy was seriously wounded and his 15-year-old companion beaten in a gang-related attack in Sepulveda, Los Angeles police said Sunday.

The victims, both of Van Nuys, were walking in the 8700 block of Parthenia Street about 10 p.m. Saturday when the older boy was hit by gunfire from a passing car, Lt. Frank Malan said.

After the shooting, the car stopped and several attackers jumped out and beat both boys with a baseball bat and golf club, Malan said.
