YORBA LINDA : Fire Erupts in Empty Classroom
Authorities evacuated students of the Travis Ranch Middle School in Yorba Linda on Monday when a fire broke out in an empty classroom.
The blaze was quickly extinguished by the school’s sprinkler system even before firefighters arrived. No one was injured.
County Fire Department spokeswoman Maria Sabol said the fire began about 11:15 a.m. in a home economics classroom in the building in the 5200 block of Via de la Escuela.
The fire was contained in an area near a kitchen stove, leading investigators to believe that the stove was left on, she said.
