Commissioner David Stern of the NBA ruled that officials erred by allowing a game-winning shot that gave the New York Knicks a less-than-last-second victory over the Chicago Bulls in a Jan. 15 game, but refused to overturn the result.
Stern said that a new directive on last-second shots should prevent a similar situation in the future.
The Bulls contended that officials should have disallowed the game-winning, three-point shot by Trent Tucker, who received an inbounds pass by Mark Jackson with one-tenth of a second left.
