SHORT TAKES : Cahn and Sinatra Star Together
- Share via
Guess where they put the Hollywood Walk of Fame star for tunesmith Sammy Cahn, who wrote Frank Sinatra’s hits “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Call Me Irresponsible,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Love and Marriage?”
In front of Greg Ward’s Men’s Clothing Shop is where--right next to where Ol’ Blue Eyes is enshrined in the pavement.
“His wife requested that,” Ana Holler, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, explained before Cahn was honored with the star today. “She wanted him to be near Frank or Dean Martin--but there was nothing near Dean Martin.”
Sinatra didn’t plan to attend the ceremony for the four-time Oscar-winning Cahn, but many of Cahn’s famous friends who paid $3,500 to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the star did. They included David Niven Jr., Sidney Poitier, Tony Danza, Dudley Moore, Jackie Collins and Sinatra offspring Nancy and Tina.
