The Phoenix Cardinals have scheduled a news conference today, reportedly to announce the hiring of Joe Bugel, an assistant coach for the Washington Redskins, as head coach.
WTTG-TV in Washington and KTAR Radio in Phoenix reported that the Cardinals would hire Bugel, 49, who has been a Redskin assistant for the last nine seasons. He started in the NFL as offensive line coach for the Detroit Lions in 1975-76 and coached the Houston Oilers’ offensive line from 1977-80.
