One person was killed and five others injured Tuesday when two cars collided in the 10000 block of Sorrento Valley Road, police said.

Also Tuesday, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Pacific Beach, authorities said.

The Sorrento Valley Road accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. when a northbound car swerved across the center line and hit another car head-on, police said.

Names of the dead and injured were not available late Tuesday.

The driver of the first car was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital. One of his passengers was also taken to Sharp, where he was being treated for internal injuries and was in serious condition. Two other male passengers were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. They were listed in serious condition.

The passengers of the second car were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. The two men, ages 33 and 36, were in stable condition.

Traffic was blocked off for about 1 1/2 miles between Mira Mesa and Sorrento Valley boulevards.

The motorcycle accident occurred at Ingraham Street and La Playa Avenue about 2 p.m., police said.

The motorcyclist, Richard Price, 35, of Chula Vista, was traveling north on Ingraham as a pickup truck was making a left turn from La Playa, police said. The two collided, and Price was flung into a third car.

He was taken to Mission Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Haney said.
