La Mesa
A 24-year-old man was killed Thursday when his car crashed into a garage, igniting a fire, authorities said.
Lt. Michael Wolfe of the La Mesa Police Department said that Michael Rose, 24, was speeding in the 5900 block of Odessa Avenue about 3 p.m. when he lost control of the car, crossed a lawn and struck the garage.
The impact ignited a fire and Rose was trapped in the car for several minutes, Wolfe said, adding that Rose was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to resuscitate him failed.
A person in the house was not injured.
