ON THE SIDELINES : Ramos Gains, Moved to Rehab
Trail Blazer rookie Ramon Ramos, who suffered severe head injuries in an auto accident two months ago, was moved to a rehabilitation center today.
Ramos was moved from Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital to the Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon at Portland’s Good Samaritan Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Marcia Williams said.
Ramos, 22, has been slowly emerging from a coma since the sports car he was driving skidded on ice while traveling at high speed and crashed Dec. 16 on Interstate 5 just south of Portland. He was thrown from the vehicle and severely bruised the base of his brain.
“He’s not in a coma technically and yet he’s not completely aware of his surroundings,” Williams said. “He’s showing slow but progressive improvement.”
