Torrance Shooting Brings Life Sentence

Share

A jealous husband has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting and nearly killing a Torrance business executive whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife.

Torrance Superior Court Judge John Shook meted out the sentence and a $10,000 fine Wednesday to Henry Ngo Wu for the shooting last April of Jonathan Baron, a 37-year-old vice president of a tax processing firm.

Wu, 33, will be eligible for parole in 17 years.

Baron has been confined to a wheelchair since he was shot in a parking structure next to the offices of CCH Computax Inc. at the corner of Torrance and Hawthorne boulevards.

Wu stalked Baron because he believed that Baron was having an affair with his wife, Wai Wu, who was also a Computax employee, according to testimony at Wu’s trial last month.

Wai Wu and Baron have both denied that they had an affair.
