Christian Heritage Sets Records, Beats Biola

Brad Soucie broke his own school-scoring record and Christian Heritage made an NAIA District III-record 22 three-pointers as the Hawks defeated host Biola, 104-91, Tuesday.

Soucie scored 49 points to break his school record of 46 set against Point Loma Nazarene earlier this season. Soucie also had a District 3-record 13 three-pointers. The Hawks (27-5), ranked No. 1 in the National Christian College Athletic Assn., have won nine consecutive games and 18 of their past 19. Biola is 9-20.

Ron Hubbard led four players in double figures in Point Loma Nazarene’s 113-83 victory over visiting Christ College of Irvine, its first in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Brian Thurston and Mike Flores added 19 and Brad Davis had 14 for PLNC (7-21, 1-10).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Shannon Abrams scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Point Loma Nazarene past Christ College Irvine, 60-44, in a Golden State Athletic Conference game. Shawndel Reddie had 12 points and Lisa Mowday added 10 for PLNC (15-12, 3-5). Christ College dropped to 4-22, 1-8.

BASEBALL

Center fielder Galin Ishii and shortstop Chris Wall each went two-for-four and Mark Ratekin picked up his second victory as Point Loma Nazarene defeated visiting San Francisco State, 4-1. Wall had two RBI’s for PLNC (3-3-1) and Ratekin, who allowed just four hits, raised his record to 2-1.

The University of San Diego fell to 4-6 with a 4-2 home loss to the University of California Irvine.

USD’s Rick Deane went three-for-five with a double and three RBI’s to raise his average to .387. Pat Crema (0-1) took the loss.
