Pole-sitter Michael Waltrip pulled away from Dale Earnhardt over the final 13 laps and won the rain-and-snow-interrupted Pontiac 200 Busch Grand National stock car race at Richmond, Va.

Earnhardt’s Chevrolet was the dominant car before mixed precipitation halted the race just past the midway point for more than two hours.

Waltrip, third when the race was halted, put his Pontiac up front shortly after the restart and stayed there the rest of the way.

The victory was worth $11,125 for Waltrip, who averaged 88.091 m.p.h. on Richmond International Raceway’s .75-mile, D-shaped layout.
