Ailing Williams Delays Title Bout
Carl (The Truth) Williams, suffering from recurring back problems, has withdrawn from his U.S. Boxing Assn. heavyweight title defense against Tyrell Biggs for the second time.
The bout, at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., originally was scheduled for Jan. 11 but was postponed until March 8 because of Williams’ back ailment.
No new date has been set for the fight, although Biggs still is scheduled to fight against an unnamed opponent March 8 on a card to be televised by USA Network.
Williams has not defended his title since November, 1988.
