Rancho Santiago Rolls Past L.A. Harbor

Guard Gene Altamirano scored a team-high 19 points Wednesday to lead Rancho Santiago College to a 105-86 victory over Los Angeles Harbor in the second round of the Southern California community college regional playoffs.

Rancho Santiago (28-3), which had five players score in double figures, will be home to Glendale (24-11) in the third round at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Altamirano’s three three-pointers opened up the middle for forward Corie Blount, who scored 17. Point guard LaVern Broadnax added 15, center Matthew Lien had 14 and reserve forward Mike Hunter scored 12.

Rancho Santiago shot 61% in the first half to take a 48-32 lead.

L.A. Harbor finished the season with a 23-13 record.
