THE SIDELINES : Tournament Opens with 2 Aces

MIYAZAKI, Japan —
Two golfers aced holes today as the Japan PGA Tour opened with the Daiichi Fodosan Cup tournament.
Hajime Meshiai scored a hole-in-one on the 180-yard fifth hole en route to a 7-under-par 65 and the first-round lead.
Norio Mikami aced the 140-yard seventh hole and shot a 66.
Meshiai, whose only victory last year came in June, had seven birdies and two bogeys to go with his ace on the 6,430-yard, par-72 Miyazaki International Golf Club course.
