Fox Broadcasting Co. said on Monday that it will introduce two new series--Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” and “In Living Color,” a sketch comedy starring Keenan Ivory Wayans--as part of a wave of schedule changes to begin in late March.

In order to make room for the new shows, “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” has been canceled and “The Reporters” will go on hiatus until late summer or early fall.

“The Outsiders,” an adaptation of S. E. Hinton’s novel about growing up in the 1960s, will debut as a 90-minute special March 25. It will premiere in its regular time slot of 7 p.m. Sunday on April 1.

“Booker,” currently airing in the 7 p.m. Sunday slot, will move to 10 p.m., displacing “The Tracey Ullman Show” and “Shandling.” Garry Shandling had said last week that his series, also seen on the Showtime pay-TV channel, is coming to an end this spring.

“The Tracey Ullman Show” and “In Living Color” will move into “The Reporters’ ” Saturday 9-10 p.m. time period. “Ullman” will be seen at 9:30 p.m., beginning April 7, while “In Living Color” will debut at 9 p.m. on April 21.

Meanwhile, the Lifetime cable channel said Monday that it has purchased reruns of “Tracey Ullman” and “Garry Shandling.” “Ullman” will begin airing in September on a daily basis, in either an early evening or late night time slot, and “Shandling” will appear in 1991, also on a daily basis.
