NBA ROUNDUP : Olajuwon Too Much for Spurs, Robinson in Rocket Win

In a match of the two best centers in the Western Conference, Akeem Olajuwon outperformed David Robinson and led the Houston Rockets to a 109-105 victory over the San Antonio Spurs Monday night at San Antonio.

Olajuwon scored 14 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, including a 15-foot jump shot with 39 seconds left that broke a 105-105 tie. He also had 14 rebounds.

Mitchell Wiggins added two free throws with 11 seconds left to give the Rockets their sixth victory in 30 road games.

Robinson scored 29 points for the Spurs, who had won four of their last six games.

Miami 105, Utah 104--Glen Rice scored from the top of the key at the buzzer at Miami as the Heat ended the Jazz’s seven-game winning streak.

Rice’s shot came on a pass from Sherman Douglas, who rebounded a missed shot by teammate Scott Haffner.

The victory was the Heat’s third in six games after winning just three of its previous 30.

Rony Seikaly scored 25 points for the Heat and Douglas added 22 points and 14 assists.

Karl Malone scored 32 points for the Jazz and John Stockton added 21 points and 14 assists.

New Jersey 128, Sacramento 111--Chris Morris scored 22 points at East Rutherford, N.J., to lead the Nets, who had their best offensive performance of the season and won for only the third time in 21 games.

Seven players scored in double figures for the Nets, whose previous high was 117 points. Sam Bowie and Purvis Short each scored 20 points.

Golden State 138, Charlotte 117--Mitch Richmond scored 30 points at Oakland as the Warriors handed the Hornets their 25th loss in 26 road games.

Richmond scored 21 points in the third quarter.
