A small earthquake jolted parts of the Los Angeles metropolitan area early Thursday but there were no reports of serious injury or damage.

The 3.0-magnitude temblor struck at 3:03 a.m. and was centered two miles west of Highland Park, said Bob Finn, spokesman for Caltech in Pasadena.

The quake was felt downtown and in Hollywood, Glendale and Pasadena. But seismologists said it was not related to last week’s 5.5-magnitude Upland earthquake.

Finn said a 3.5-magnitude quake that struck at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday was an aftershock of the Upland quake and was centered about four miles north-northeast of suburban Pomona. No damage was reported.
