Ned Fowler, who resigned as Tulane basketball coach in the wake of a point-shaving scandal in 1985, was named basketball coach at Stephen F. Austin University.
Fowler’s resignation followed accusations by an Orleans Parish grand jury that five Tulane players had rigged the outcome of at least two games during the 1984-85 season.
Fowler disclaimed knowledge of point-shaving when he left Tulane, which canceled its basketball program because of the scandal.
Tulane returned to Metro Conference play this season after its self-imposed, four-year ban.
